Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Finger After A Fall

A week and a half ago I fell pretty hard onto my hand, I felt my finger pop and it hurt immediately by the next day my finger was swollen which lasted 2-3 days and bruising occurred on the top of my hand and finger. It is still sore now that bruising and swelling has gone done and I have noticed a hard lump that feels like a bone out of place at the base of my finger, should I go to a doctor for this?

Hello,

If you can move your hand and fingers normally, there are low chances for any possible fracture or luxation, as it usually leads to excessive pain and loss of movements. Anyway, if the lump persists, I recommend consulting with an orthopedist and performing a hand X-ray study.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
