A dermatologist prescribed Efudex for my face last year; I didn't use it do to seeing pictures of side effects and reviews saying basically the same about the scabbing and looking bad for a period of time until they scabs, etc. came off. This is the first time and I am 74 years old that a dermatologist suggested using it. Years ago a dermatologist said I had sun damage, looking at it with the special lights/magnification, I guess. I only have a few scaly spots that you can see. Is it necessary to use this cream or just wait and have it removed when visible? I don't look forward to possible headaches, very red scabby looking face, etc. My 51 year old son used Picato last winter; he didn't look other than slightly red in the face as if he might have been a little too long in the sun; but he did say he had a headache. Efudex has to be used a longer time, Picato 3 days.
