hello kaiser
Your child might be gradually developing asthamatic coughing. usually in pediatrics this medicine becomes routine at every few weeks cycle. such medicines (steroids+bronchodilators etc) are cough suppresive so gives fast and temporary relief. but they dont have power to stop recurrence. and will very gradually lower down his immunity. and unfortunately whenever he will have the attack you will have to be dependent on nabulization because there is no option of that available in crisis. just put your child on homoeopathy medicine, it is best for children as it will also strengthen his immunity power. do not directly stop present one but gradually do so. do with an experienced doctor in your city. it will help him for better trouble free future health.
Otherwise whatever treatment is goin is right one and you can go ahead with it. hardly there is any possible change except antibiotics.
follow your doctors advise about further investigations and diagnosis.
I hope I answered your query. Wish you good health.

hi
by seeing the detailed history narrated by you it seems that your baby is having hypersensitive airway disease, this requires avoidance of allergence like dust, dust mite, cold. this condition usually resolve as baby grows but few babies may develop bronchial asthama in later part of life , if parents have asthama or allergic disease. But all these conditions can be treated well with recent medical advancement. dont be stressed mentally.
take care
