Question: this is not about me, I bet you hear that a lot. it is a man that my family has been taking care of. he is 75 and in moderately good health, however, he is forgetful and imagines things happening that are not happening, for example, people stealing things from him. recently, he claimed his car was totally damaged by a repair company, but when I went out to see it-there was no damage.

Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I understand you concern.

The symptoms of the man seen to be related to dementia.

Dementia is a medical condition which is characterized by memory loos.

People with this medical condition may also have hallucinations or suspicion.

A visit to a neurologist is needed to evaluate better the situation.

The neurologist will evaluate the mental state and the neurological function.

Also, some examinations such as a blood count and a CT scan of the brain is needed for further evaluation.
