Question: my son is 2. he bumped his head on the table yesterday at 6pm. no crying. no bump. he just said ow. at 3am, 9 hours later, he threw up twice. he looks pale. no issues. today the montessouri school teacher said another student is out with diarhea. thr class is only 5 kids so there is a lot of interaction.

he has normal but off color and smelly stool. he is playing normally and no issues. he is grouchy because he was up early and then played and had gymnastics today.

do I need to go to the hosptial? it%E2%80%99s been over 24 hours since he bumped his head and there are no symptoms of a concussion. he threw up but it was 8 hours later and he has been exposed to a stomach bug.

Brief Answer:
No reasons to be concerned...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Based on your description, I don't see any reasons to be concerned. I understand he vomited once, but most likely vomiting was incidental and not related to a serious head injury.

A serious head injury is associated with loss of consciousness, repeated episodes of vomiting, altered consciousness, seizures and others. He did not have any of these symptoms, Therefore I am not worried.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.

he vomited TWICE but it was within 5-10 minutes of thr first time. he is pale but eating and drinking. no seizures. no loss of consciousness, no problems with balance. he is grouchy but that was because he%E2%80%99s sleepy. so it is most likely the stomach bug from school?

Brief Answer:
Vomiting unrelated to injury...

Detailed Answer:
Still, I don't think vomiting is connected to injury. Yes, this perhaps is related to stomach bug. But as he is fine now, it doesn't need medical attention.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Brief Answer:
Encourage him to have more fluids...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Apologies for the late reply....

If his activities are not disturbed and he is feeding well, then I would not be overly worried. Encourage him to drink plenty of fluids. Also add probiotics which will aid in faster recovery.

Incase watery stools persists for more than 2-3 days, consider visiting his doctor.

Hope this helps.
