Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXXXXX realty,
Thanks for the query. I have read it & understand your concern.
Yes, sun burns can cause tight , swollen ankles with red skin .. gets painful too. All of this is due to water retention in skin after exposure to strong sun burn.
* Home care- please keep your legs raised up on a pillow to relieve swelling. Keep the skin cool, apply moisturizing lotion mixed with steroid skin cream over the counter.
Drink lot of water in order to fulfill dehydration during the burn.
Over the counter pain pill like Ibuprofen would help in relief of pain... take it after food.
* The symptoms of sunburn reduce within 2-4 days at the most.
* If they persist longer, there is need for investigating cause of such swelling ( sprain, strain, arthritis of ankle, other health causes ( Severe anemia or heart, liver , kidney diseases ).
Consultation of a physician with needful investigations would pin point the cause followed by specific treatment.
Hope that helps you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
