Question: lump behind palatogloassal arch (flesh colored and looks similar to my tonsils) Tonsils are no longer inflammed - can only see it when i use a tongue depressor to gag and can feel it with my tongue. relatively unbothersome although there is slight discomfort and i can kind of feel it when i swallow. I just am getting over strep throat/tonsillitis and I have a history of acid reflux. Should I be worried?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,thank you for posting your query.
I have gone through your query.

Looking at the information given by you, there might be following possibility:
Lymphoid follicle enlargement behind palatoglossal arch.
There are lymphoid follicles all over in throat region. In case of any infection, acid reflux, etc they may get enlarged.
Possibly you might be suffering from that,as you are also suffering from acid reflux.

It would be suggested to do warm saline/betadine gargles, and use of antacid like Pantoprazole,in case you are still suffering from acid reflux.

You can wait for around 2 weeks,to see whether swelling size reduces.

In case ,if you suffer from more pain in throat, persistence or enlargement of swelling, change in consistency of swelling (it becomes hard),change in surface of swelling (like roughness or ulceration)or any swelling in neck( small sized swelling - lymph node swelling),then it would be advisable to consult an ENT specialist directly. In few cases , biopsy might be needed if required later for confirmation of diagnosis of swelling.

I would be happy to answer if you have any other queries as per my knowledge.

Thank you.Take care.
