I Have Been Dealing With Pain In My Right Shoulderfor

Posted on Mon, 4 Nov 2019
Question: i have been dealing with pain in my right shoulderfor a few months now. recently, the pain has increased and also gravitated down my right arm as far as the elbow. xrays were negative. MRI showed possible slap tear, frozen shoulder, and recently the dr added possible bursitis in the tendons of the upper arm. PT didnt help; in fact, the pain got worse. it wakes me up at night. meds arent helping much. only heavy hitters like oxycodone or oxycontin even touch the pain. and not for long.
im beyond frustrated and constantly on the verge of tears from the pain. any suggestions you have are welcomed

Brief Answer:
Surgery may be the only option.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think the main problem may be the slap tear. Bursitis and tendinitis usually get better with the usage of antinflamatory drugs such advil or naproxen or even oxycodone or oxycontine as you are doing.
Also in the case of slap tear we use conservative treatment first with antinflamatory drugs and physical therapy.
This conservative therapy is failing on making your situation better and surgery may be the only option to treat it.
I think you may need to visit an orthopaedic surgeon to examine you and possibly he will advise surgery treatment for it.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
