Question: i had a heat stroke in hat yoga in october and thought it was nothing. but a week later i started having pain in my tongue, slowly the pain went to my whole face, half my face. i did an mri with contrast and mra and outside of finding a small unruptured aneurysm on my ophtalmic artery they found no infract. My whole body is now tingglong or burning on one side. could i have central pain syndrome with no sign of stroke? i also had herpes on my lips around the same time of stoke but it could not be post herpetic neuralgia since my whole half body is affected.
could i have a clear mri but those crazy nurning symptoms on one side?

Brief Answer:
Yes, it is most likely central pain syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query. I have noted your clinical details. I agree that the most likely cause of one sided tingling and burning is a central pain syndrome. In some cases, we do find a lesion (stroke or tumor) in the thalamus (on opposite side), however, MRI brain comes out as normal in a majority of cases.

Patients with this condition usually respond to pregabalin or gabapentin capsules.

I hope it helps. I would be pleased to answer if you have any follow up queries.
