Bsolute Eosinophil Count Has Come To .39 (.02 To .5
Question: bsolute Eosinophil count has come to .39 (.02 to .5 normal range). Can the patient stop taking telekast now ?
Details: Due to constant irritation for over 3 weeks and wet cough post a (possible) viral, my wife was given Telekast and Duonase by the pulmonologist. After taking telekast for 10 days symptoms disappeared. However at that time on missing a dose of Telekast , symptoms returned, and and breathing was also difficult. At this point Telekast has been continued for 28 days , and restless sleep, acidity at night appear to be its side effect. Another 2 weeks was recommended, but we want to know if we can stop as count is Eosinophil normal.
My wife reports that if not taking Metaspray, it feels like there is a 2 kg weight on the chest. Also reports fatigue in general. After taking metaspray, the "weight on chest" disappeared. The PFT test was normal.
Is this tending towards Cushing's Synodrome , as Mometasone is a glucocorticoid ?

Telecast and memetasone spray both control the allergy what she has in her chest .Normalisation of eisinophil counts and normal PFT are good signs.
Mometasone is steroids and you are right steroids excessive use can cause Cushing.So, however, cushion is very unlikely to occur with topical (like spray or creams )steroids. Another thing is that cushing generally occurs after long time useof steroids , like if used for years. Steroids sprays are used by patients ( like asthma or COPD) for years but they rarely get Cushing. Neither is the problem of burden on chest a sign of cushing.So don't worry about that .Yes I will recommend to rinse mouth with water after using the spray .It can be used till she feels free of symtpoms.
Regarding the telecast , it again quite good In controlling chest allergy .Once symtpoms are not there you can always stop it. If she is feeling better with the spray only , you can stop telecast .But do inform your doctor.
I would also suggest you shoud focus if any special thing is causing her allergy like change in carpets, dust, spray , or any pets .She should avoid specially dust and pollen and smoke.
Keep in follwoing your chest doctor to exactly know what disease she had as some chest allergies may need further evaluation and prolong treatment .
