Brief Answer:
It is a long term sequele of hypertension.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Lon standing hypertension can cause microscopic changes in the filtering systems of your kidneys and it is called hypertensive nephropathy and which lead to small protein leak.
It is an age related long term change and does not cause much problem unless your blood pressure is well controlled.
Make sure that your blood pressure is well controlled. Go for a renal function test ( RFT) and make sure that your creatinine values are normal.
You can switch to anti hypertensives like losartan or ACE inhibitors ( CAPTOPRIL, ENALAPRIL etc) which will arrest the progress of renal injury after discussing with your physician.
Wishing all the best.
