Is Pain In My Left Hip Radiating To The Shin Area A Serious Problem?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Mar 2021
Question: a pain in my left hip and my left side above the hip (which I originally thought was a muscle pulled while golfing) radiates down and around to the front of my left shin.
Today, when walking and then moving to run, my left leg and muscles turned and began to act "rubbery" and not able to carry the weight. I have never had any prior experience like this

Brief Answer:
Rule out lumbar spine and hip issues

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Pain originating in hip and radiating down along with muscle strength issues are concerning for possible spinal conditions like osteoarthritis, disc prolapse etc causing nerve compression.
Another consideration is hop problems causing such pain.
Xray hip and spine, and MRI spine are required foe.evaluation along with thorough physical and neurological examination

So, please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider. Meanwhile, avoid strenous activities and take Advil 400 mg every 6 hours for pain.

Hope this answers your question
