What Could Cause A Black Out When One Hasn't Eaten For Over Half A Day?

Question: a few weeks ago, I stood up from a chair in a restaurant to see where our order was. We had ordered about 6: and it was getting to be 8:30.I had not eaten since noon I walked a few feet to the kitchen door. A server open the door practically in my face and rushed out. I went blank then. about 3-5 minutes later I was back at my chair. I remember nothing. A doctor said he thought I had a hypoglycemic episode. If I go to a doctor in person can he tell if I had an episode or not? What action should I take to prevent another episode. I have never had a black out before. Can the doctor tell what happened several weeks ago? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
The doctor can do the necessary tests to confirm if you have hypoglicemia

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I have some questions for you:
1) Do the symptoms disappear after you have eaten something?
2) Has it happened before, especially in the morning?
Hypoglycemia is a very common medical condition, especially if you don't eat for some hours because in this case the blood sugar is lower.

Some examinations that should be done to confirm the diagnosis are:
-physical examination
-blood sugar level
We can not confirm if it was hypoglycemia during the episode that you mentioned in the query without having a blood sugar level of the moment of the episode, but we can prevent it happening again.

Some advice that I can give to you is:
-eat your meals regularly
-eat snacks
-drink fruity juices
-always keep with you something to eat such as sugar, candy or a fruit juice.

Hope my answer was helpful.

Kind regards!
