Brief Answer:
Its probably allergic reaction in ears

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

You are suffering from upper respiratory tract infection along with bronchitis. So your nose and eustachian tube is blocked due to allergic reaction. This may cause fluid accumulation in your middle ear. This is the reason why you are having ear block, pain and ringing sensation. You can start taking steam inhalation, fluticasone nasal spray and any antiallergic tablet prescribed by your doctor.

You may continue the antibiotic prescribed to you. This will "prevent" infection in your middle ear and will help to prevent complications like ear discharge, hearing loss. Can you send the name of the antibiotic and review if you have any queries?

Dr prescribed Levofloxacin that has too many side effects. So, didn't start yet. Today was having hard time hearing conversations. Have not taken any strong antibiotics in life. Cough is getting better, but ear blockage and hearing issues are concerns. Is it better to wait for couple of days, or should start taking the antibiotics (may need to get a milder one) immediately?

Levoflaxacin prescription came with a note - the medicine has serious side affects and can lead to death! So, did not take it and consulted another dr who told not to take such a strong antibiotics and prescribed amoxilin. Have started amoxilin and it's been more than 24hrs. One of the ears un-popped yesterday for few hours, but both are blocked again and having hard time hearing. Started steam inhalation along with it. There is no more ear pain. How long will it take to get the ears cleared of blockage and able to hear normal?
