When I Couldn’t Cut My Own Hair Earlier This Week

Question: When I couldn’t cut my own hair earlier this week with clippers I decided to shave it all off and see how bad those growths underunder my scalp we’re. It was worse than I thought as about 75% of my scalp is a covered in golf ball size grills and undulations just one big up-and-down pattern it is hideous to look at. My question is my only symptom is a daily headache so should I just let my hair grow back and try and forget about it

Brief Answer:
Not a serious condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

These growths under your scalp are most likely fat accumulations ( lipoma, atheroma).

These lesions are considered harmless and in most of the cases, they don't cause any symptoms, even headaches.

They can be removed surgically only in cases of rapid growth or if they become bothersome in terms of cosmetic problems, get infected, etc.

So, in my opinion, you should not be worried about them, let your hair grow.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
