What Must I Do When Blood Sugar Level Reading Is More Than 600?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jan 2024
Question: I had a catscan on Friday and am not allowed to take my metformin and glipizide. The novolog and humilin that I am taking is not holding my sugar down. last reading 608 after 25 units of Novolog date Oct. 2017

The novolog had an expiration date of 10/17. My endoconologist won't give me a new presription until I come see her, but I've been busy with a TIA, MAI and stomache pains that feel like contractions. Sorry for any confusion.

Brief Answer:
Advice to follow up with the emergency room

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Since the Novolog is past expiration date, increasing the dose is not likely to help control blood sugar levels. Blood sugar reading of 608 is very concerning and can have serious consequences. So , please be advised to follow up with the emergency room or urgent care as soon as possible for adequate blood sugar control.
