What Is The Best Form Of Treatment For Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Aug 2023
Question: I have been recently diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. I am providing the link to my dropbox folder including the doctor's findings and treatment suggestions.
I work in Saudi Arabia and came to Pakistan (which is my home country) for my vacation. Coincidentally, my diagnosis came during my vacation time. I want to ask the following question:
Which is a better country to get the treatment? Pakistan or Saudi Arabia?
Is there a better option for me then the treatment suggested by my doctor?
My doctor also recommended to put a PEG before starting the treatment by saying that during the treatment you will a lot of swelling in the mouth and would be difficult to eat or drink anything, therefore to keep you healthy, you must put PEG. I want to avoid this, can I refuse the doctor not to put a PEG, and what could be the circumstances?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Nasopharingeal cancer

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

The therapy can be done in both countries, depending on where you will feel more comfortable. The doctors are scientifically well prepared in both of those countries.

The treatment proposed by the doctor is right and I agree with it.

The use of PEG during therapy would make it easier for you and you will have better quality of life, but this will be your choice and you can refuse it if you do not feel comfortable with it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi
Thanks for your kind consideration and taking time to answer my question. I am not sure if you have gone through the dropbox link where I have uploaded the CT Scan CD and the report. They have mentioned about enlarged lymph nodes. Is this a bit concerning? Do you think chemo is not required in my therapy?
I am also attaching the CT scan report and including the dropbox link to the CD. Please have a look at it and let me know what do consider about it.
Thanks
Zia

Brief Answer:
Nasopharingeal cancer

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I see the analysis reports again. The final report does not classify the lymph nodes as pathological

Your stage is T2N0M0, thats mine that you have not to be concerned for your enlarged lymph nodes.

In your case concurrent Chemo-radiotherapy is the best choice

The naso pharyngeal cancer in your stage has very good prognoses.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Ok, Thanks for explaining this question. Though, I heard this term first time "very good prognoses". Please explain this, what does it mean.
Thanks
