Question: What is normal protocol for a patient with Ecoli . After diagnosed , what is normal treatment advice? Does she see a specialist . The exapress clinic gave her antibiotics before her lab results were received. She has no further instructions as of today when her labs came back. Should she go see another Doctor , maybe a specialist..

Brief Answer:
That depends.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Trevinosco,

That depends on whether or not she has symptoms of infectious enterocolitis, e.g. abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea? If so, she should be treated with antibiotics. Also, intravenous rehydration may be necessary, if she is not able to drink an adequate amount of fluid herself. Do you know what strain of bacteria was found?
Kindly upload the reports for me to view, so that I am better able to help.

Best wishes.
