Posted on Wed, 14 Jun 2017
Question: Dear Sir,
I had visited dentist for Tooth in order to confirm root canal treatment.I have attached the x-ray scan of that tooth.
Dentist mentioned that Root canal cant be done since infection is more and i had consulted other root canal specialist he mentioned that root canal treatment can be done but before we need to remove the infection in the tooth.
Based upon your experience could you please tell me whether tooth should be removed or root canal can be done?
If i go for root canal what would be the success rate based upon the x-ray

Brief Answer:
Consult good endodontist for treatment .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX .

Thanks for consulting Healthcaremagic.
This is Dr. Priyanka Tiwari answering your query .

I have read your query and understand your concern . Thanks for uploading your xray report. As far as i have observed in your xray report you have your molar tooth deeply carious and much infection is there in apex region . Based on my experience Yes you can save this tooth after Root canal treatment. As you are asking for success rate that can be only 50 to 60 percent as there is much infection present .
To save this tooth i will suggest you to consult good Endodontist for Root canal treatment. Treatment will take time and appointments also as there is Abscess formation so it will take time to subside .

Hope i have answered your query .
If you have further query i will be happy to help.

If it is failed what would be the symtoms and how to overcome from that.whether removal of tooth is the only option if root canal treatment does not get succeeded?

Hello XXXX
Welcome again .

If root canal treatment fails then toothache or swelling can be symptoms which will appears in one month or in one year also. See it usually depends on patients immunity and how patient respond to treatment.
If Root canal treatment fails then treatment option will be Extraction (removal) of teeth and afterward you can go for replacement of teeth by fixed prosthesis .

Hope i have answered your query.

Thanks for the details.
Do you recommend to put CAP immediately after root canal treatment or wait till one year or so to check if it is causing any pain and later go for the cap.
Which one is the good Caps available in market now with low cost.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX.

Welcome .
I would recommend you to go for crown (cap) 15 days after completion of root canal treatment. observe for week or 15days that if there no pain in tooth then go for crown . I would prefer Metal crown for your posterior tooth as it has good strength for mastication ,requires minimal tooth reduction and low cost .

Hope i have answered your query.
If you have further query i will be happy to help.
