Brief Answer: It can be old infection Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query. It is very common to see IgM & IgG antibodies at the same time. If You are IgG & igM antibodies positive with high avidity it can be old infection. But still confirmatory test is quantitative PCR in amniotic fluid if that is negative means your fetus is safe & no need of taking spiramycin in that case. However if you do not want to go for invasive test to detect PCR in amniotic fluid then continue spiramycin as advised by your doctor. Take care

Thanks ... but the problem is that igm still are in grey zone and after a month and avidity seems less than 1st time ...same laboratory .. probably if igm are not level up to be positive and igg is similar after a month could be postive.. or not? I think that pcr test could be necessary but i liked to understand your opinion on these values ... thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer: There is high avidity in older infection Detailed Answer: Hello, Welcome back. There is high avidity in older infection as compared with fresh one. However IgG antibodies develop after onset of infection after appearance of IgM antibody. If once you were having IgM antibody & in repeated sample both IgG & IgM antibodies means your infection is recent one. However in your case it is very difficult to interpret whether you are having old infection or recent one. It is better that you will continue with spiramycin & get PCR test done between 16-18 weeks. Take care
