Brief Answer:
EGFR glomerular filtration rate

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have recently had blood work and your kidney functions were low. The eGFR is short for estimated glomerular filtration rate. This is the rate at which your kidneys are clearing unwanted products for excretion. Normal is above 60. With you being at 44 your are in stage 3 renal failure. This is seen in people with diabetes. I would recommend discussing this closely with your doctor so you can prevent any further loss of renal function.

To help improve your renal function drink plenty of fluids, keep your blood pressure well controlled, control your diabetes if you have it and lastly discuss your medications with your doctor since some medications can affect your kidney function.

In summary
1. Stage 3 renal failure.
2. Keep well hydrated
3. Control both hypertension and diabetes if you have them
4. Discuss this with your medical provider and review your medications

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
