Brief Answer:
follow the advises.. maintain a healthy lifestyle..

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and reports and understand your concern,

Your Vitamin D3 level is severely on the lower side so you need to start appropriate supplementation without any further delay..

Coming directly to your queries :

How do I improve my Vitamin D :
Follow the advises properly as below -

Foods I need to take for Vitamin D :

Milk (fortified, available in all big supermarkets and dept. stores) and milk products like yogurt, buttermilk, cheese etc., hard boiled eggs, lean meat like chicken, fish(mainly sea fish eg. sardine, tuna, herring, cod etc.), ground nuts, mushrooms, sesame seeds, almonds etc.

What other activities will improve my Vitamin D value :

Outdoor activities like daily jogging, walking, exercises in daytime.. along with this few minutes of daily sunlight exposure of the body(15-20 min in the morning ~ 8-10 am), as it'll help in natural synthesis of Vitamin-D in the body..

Supplements and medicines :

Medicine are in form of supplementation only, you need to start taking
Vitamin D3 60,000 IU Once a Week for next 12 weeks (available in both Capsule as well as XXXXXXX form, please check with your local pharmacy for availability), you can take it with or after meals..

After completion of 12 weeks, Vitamin D3 1000 IU (available in both Capsule as well as XXXXXXX form) Once daily for next 3 months..

Tab Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Citrate 500 mg Once daily after food for next 3 months.. (All these are prescription based medication, so please get the appropriate prescription from your local physician)..

You need to get the Vitamin D3 level and serum Calcium levels checked after this to decide on further course of action..

It's a gradual process, so please follow these above mentioned advises to yield the maximum benefits..Sunlight exposure alone is not sufficient to compensate this, so the combination of all those approaches should be initiated at the earliest..

Let me know if there's any further queries..

Take Care
Kind Regards

Thank you for your response and it is very helpful.

I have few more questions :

Vitamin D3 60,000 IU : After meal - Is it after lunch or Dinner ?
Vitamin D3 1000 IU : Is it after lunch or dinner ?
Tab Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Citrate 500 mg Once daily after food for next 3 months : Do I start calcium tablets immediately from today ?

Can you also please advice the medicine name ( I.e. Brand ) for [ D3 60,000 , D3 1000 and Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Citrate 500 mg] so I can go ahead take the medicines suggested by you .

Brief Answer:
follow as already advised ..

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back XXXX,
Thanks for following up,

Vitamin D3, irrespective of the doses, can be taken with or after any meals (nothing as such like after lunch/dinner, but once you start them, try to stick to fixed schedule, means if you start taking it with/after dinner, maintain it with/after dinner only)..

Yes, form the moment you'll be starting vitamin D3 supplementation, you'll be requiring Calcium supplementation as well..

NO, medicine brand advice/prescription is strictly beyond the scope of online medical forum, only Generic names can be suggested, in fact all these are prescription based medication, so please get the appropriate prescription from your local physician(as I've already mentioned in the previous reply)..

Don't worry, these are widely available, thus brand names are also widely variable from place to place, however the Generic names always remain constant as they're universal, so just note the constituents and dosage while buying..

Follow the advises properly and you'll observe the changes in the due course..

Take Care
Kind Regards
