Brief Answer:
Not a serious concern but suggested CT scan chest for breathing problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Few fibrotic strands in the right middle lobe mean an area of the lung with mild scarring.

It is possible that the patchy opacity in the right upper lobe visualised 4 years back was from a lung infection and it healed and scarring occurred.

The upper and mid zones have overlapping areas.

Few fibrotic strands are not a serious problem but if you have breathing problems then I suggest you to get a CT scan chest done after discussing with your doctor.

Brief Answer:
Fibrosis is unlikely in your case

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

You have written that the ENT doctor has told the xray is almost normal. Therefore I feel that there are few strands in the right mid zone and is not an acute finding.

Coming to the fact that you have stomach tightness, then I reassure you that the few stands in the right mid zone are unlikely to cause stomach tightness.

Lung fibrosis is a condition which will be clearly visualised on chest xray and would have been mentioned in the report if it was seen in your chest xray.

A respiratory rate between 12 and 20 breaths per minute is normal when you are at rest. If it is more than 20 per minute then it is fast breathing.

However, the best way to evaluate your breathing is to go to a pulmonologist and get lung function tests done.

Brief Answer:
Please send a copy of your xray picture

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Breathing problems can be caused due to diseases of the heart and lungs. There are many conditions which can cause similar symptoms and it depends on the grade of breathlessness and duration. Any other signs like fever, weight loss, cough and sputum are more likely in infections.

A few fibrotic strands is not a normal finding. I need to see the xray to have a better idea of your case. Can you please upload a picture of the xray and send in a follow up.

Brief Answer:
The chest xray is nearly normal

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,
Thanks for sending the xray picture.

There is no significant area of large fibrosis in the picture which you have sent me.

There are mild prominent strands in the right mid zone but these do not appear to be any serious concern.

Therefore I do not think you need to take additional tests unless you have any chest symptoms.
