What does dragging of legs by a toddler while walking indicate?

Question: my 21/2 yrs old told suddenly walks with his right leg funnily kind of dragging it. I massage it but he did not feel any pain . He jumps and runs. I'm concerned because it's a new development i just notice

the patient is 2 1/2 yrs old toddler and a male
