Brief Answer:
usually due to inflammation of the sinuses

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The most common reason is inflammation of the sinuses due to cold, allergies or viral infection (eg cold or flu). A bacterial infection can cause this symptom but it is not as common as viral infection, would require treatment with antibiotics.

IN rare cases, there are more serious causes such as mass in the sinus or related area of the respiratory tract.

Treatment would involve the use of an antihistamine/decongestant combination such as zyrtec d, allegra d, claritine d or benadry l d.
IN addition the use of a nasal spray to decrease the inflammation in the sinuses may also be helpful eg nasonex, flonase, rhinocort

A humidifier would help reduce dryness if this is an issue

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James 12 minutes later
Brief Answer:
most are simple cysts and not associated with any complications

Detailed Answer:
HI

Kidney cysts can be simple cysts or complex cysts.

Simple cysts are far more common than complex cysts and occur with aging.
simple cysts do not affect kidney function or cause enlargement of the kidney. They are not associated with any symptoms and are just monitored, no treatment is needed

Complex cysts can occur in persons with kidney diseases such as polycystic kidney disease or other diseases of the kidney. It can also rarely be due to cancer. If the cysts appears to be complex to the radiographer, then he or she may suggest further imaging, blood tests may also be needed to assess kidney function
