Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I want some more detail .
I have seen a patient who used to stare at blank for few minutes and then will remember nothing after wards what has happened in between .
Suppose a person watching television goes into such episode and to onlookers he is staring blank with eye open and after episode he says that he had no memory what was said to him or what happened on television .
This is called absence seizure .
Have you such thing .
Are you are diabetic or having high blood pressure .
Have you any history of epilepsy?
Kindly give such information then i will be able to comment .

My question was not answered. I wish to find out what can or has been known to cause this type of 'lost time' - that is, short skips in the tape so-to-speak. Your example was one that is longer.

I have a neurologist exam in the process (takes awhile) but I went through this with another doctor who helped me a lot as I described, but never went after this particular issue mainly because it is so hard to quantify or even recognize. (Shoot! She did not even recognize a full-blown episode when it happened right in front of her, she let me walk out of the building and unaware of where I was for a good 15 minutes before my wife called me on the phone so I am told. (I also recorded the visit.))

Are these still so unknown?

Hi,

it is seizure .it may be complex partial seizure or absence seizure .
You need complete evaluation by neurologist and investigation as MRI brain and EEG .
I hope you find solution to your query .

OK, Yes and I have had all of those things done. The results were that I was discovered to have partial seizures. Treatment has been successful apparently. However, during the period from the first time till now, four incidences that are distinctly different from the others have occurred. I am scheduled to go for more tests where they will repeat all of the same BS again. BS may be too strong because the medication they gave me stopped the seizures. They also were helpful on leg and knee pain plus neuropathy (pins/needles, crawly, burning) by making it numb (a much better situation). But they were apparently incomplete - they didn't resolve my sleep issues, my memory and cognitive function loss, and whatever these 'lost time' things are - I did not recognize them as distinct and did not push the issue because they are infrequent, but now I am wondering what to look for.

An obvious answer like go to the doctor is hardly an answer - I am already doing that. The MRI and EEG and Sleep study will begin soon, a neurologist will be visited and more tests will be done. OK!

But what causes 'lost time' - you are saying partial seizure and/or absence seizure - I am being treated for that now! Are you saying that the treatment is not working? Or that it works some of the time? Does anyone know what can happen that would be rendered in this fashion and no one has seen anything like this before? I don't believe that!

Brief Answer:
Treatment may not be working...

Detailed Answer:
From your description, the 'lost time' feeling could be related to partial / absence seizures. Sometimes they do recur despite medications if the treatment is inefficient. That being said, you will definitely need more evaluation. I think the treatment should be revised after tests .
