Question: I had a swallowing x-ray yesterday and now my stool is white is that normal

Hello and welcome,

If what you swallowed looked like a milk shake, then it probably contained barium which will cause the stool to look white and chalky. This may re occur for the next few stools. It is just the barium coming out in your stool. Sometimes barium contrast material can cause constipation, so after the swallow study is performed the X-ray tech often will give patients a stool softener or laxative. If constipation is at all a problem consider picking up a stool softener at the pharmacy or drink prune juice.
