Posted on Tue, 12 Jul 2016
Question: Hi doctor, i have a major concern and i am doubtful. One of my friend met with an accident in 2009. His skull got damaged and it impacted his right eye , where in his right eye had a minor squint and eye is a little bit different in shape coz of that accident. Recently he has mentioned that ever since the accident there is no vission in his rright eye. However my concern is if there is no vision how can pupil move and when he looks anywhere it seems both eyes are fine. Can that be possible with no vission still it seams that its just a squint

Brief Answer:
No vision is possible.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
The nerves which control the movement and vision are different. So one may be effected while other may be fine. Your friend should have complete eye examination to ascertain the damage accurately so that progress can be monitored.

Brief Answer:
No vision may lead to squint.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
good of you to get back to me with photograph. Vision at times is a binding force which keeps the eye straight. No vision may lead to divergent squint; younger the patient, more is the squint.
If it increases, then glasses and finally surgery is the principal of management.

I have attached the picture of damaged eye, if i normaly look i dont feel that he has no vision in the marked eye coz its moving same ways as the correct eye is. Just the squint can be observed but its been 4yrs with him i never felt that he has no vision
So he is telling the truth? I didnt understand a bit of technical language, as per u its the possibility like his eyes are in the picture he can do the movement of eye but as squint is there so chances are that there is no vision?
