Brief Answer:
Possible allergic response

Detailed Answer:
Hello -

It sounds like you are having an allergic reaction. If you are having any difficulty with breathing, or your lips/mouth is swelling, then go directly to the ER.

Otherwise, I recommend taking Benadryl 50 mg. It is an antihistamine and can help if this is an allergic reaction. If it helps you may need to continue to take it every 6 hours until this reaction resolves.

You may need to do a bit of sleuthing to figure out what may have set you off (new food? medicine? exposure to a pet you have not been around? recent virus?). However, sometimes we aren't able to pinpoint what sets off generalized itching.

However, if the itching continues, then see your doctor to check some labs including a TSH for thyroid function.

Feeling shaky can go with the release of adrenaline that your body may be responding with because of the itching.

In some people, both symptoms come on in response to anxiety or panic, but if you have wheals on your body, it is more likely due to an allergic response.

Please let me know if this helps and if I can provide further information.
