Question: HELLO, Recently I have been having issues with eyesite, balance, and tingeling on the left side of face. the eye issues are blured vision. The balance issues started about 2 months ago and lasted 7 to 10 day. this was substancial - when i looked up or got up from setting. These have stopped for the most part. The tingeling usually occures during heavy work, walking up steep hillside and become winded while cutting fire wood. The tingeling is always on left side of face, at the cheek bone and rediates out to eye area and side of nose to my upper lip. When I stop working for a moment these tingeling sensaytion go away usually with in 30 to45 seconds. My MD of 17 Yrs retired at 87 in mid 2015. I have a new one I am trying to work with and its been a bit of a challange. My new MD had me go in for a " sonography ". which has been viewed as inconclusive for Carotid Artery Diseare. Would it be fair to request additional test to try for a more firm, or conclusive view re. Carotid Artery disease? I am a 67 male whos retired insurance broker but physially active. I have take meds to control High B P for appox. 10 yrs.

Brief Answer:
I would recommend getting an MRI of brain done.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, we need to exclude brain problem, most notably brain ischemia (lack of blood supply to brain). This can be done by doing an MRI of brain.

MRI can be combined with angiogram of brain and neck vessels. These are superior to neck duplex sonography in assessing the carotid arteries, and moreover, they are non-invasive and free of contrast injections.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
