What Causes Swelling And Redness On Penis Head Along With Peeling Of Foreskin?
Question: Hey doctor my penis head looks swollen deep red very tender when peeling back foreskin . Foreskin splitting on parts. Also painful when I pee. Have tried cream called bacitracin. What do think is wrong . Been going for 4 or 5 weeks help.

Swelling of the penis is most commonly due to an infection.
The penis especially the head, is red and tender usually.
And there may be associated bleeding in the urine (which may not be visible to eye)
Another possible condition is that happens when the foreskin becomes infected. This happens when the foreskin is infected due to bad hygiene in males that have no circumcision.
Sexually transmitted diseases are a possibility but I wont consider that unless you think thats a possibility in view of history of contact that you may not have shared yet. If there is such a history, please let us know.
In such a situation, I usually prefer to give oral antibiotics IN ADDITION to local antibiotics (that you have been using). I usually prefer to give doxycycline or other such antibiotics. However, the choice of antibiotic depends on the local area, and is best suggested by a local region practitioner.
If the antibiotics dont work, and there is a foreskin infection (which may be a strpng possibility in our case), circumcision may be the actual answer to the problem.
