Brief Answer:
Diabetes is a progressive disease - so sugars will Increase over time

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.

Diabetes is a progressive disease. So even with good medications, diet and exercise, your blood sugars may increase over time. You may have to increase the dose or add new medications after consulting your doctor.

Make sure that you are not having any infections like teeth infections or urinary tract infections which can increase the sugars.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further questions, I will be pleased to help you.

my sugar level was at 135 last month. i had terrible and acute wisdom tooth infection and i got the surgical tooth extraction done of my wisdom tooth on 12 December 2015. Thereafter i have been having tablet Augmentin 1000 twice a day and the painkiller tab Diclogesic TDS for the last four days. The dental surgeon advised me to take the prescription for 6 days. I have also been having chest congestion for the last three days. Can this be the reason of the sudden hike of my sugar level from 135 to 234? If so , will it drop after my antibiotic prescription is over and my tooth infection is over ?

Brief Answer:
This could be the reason. It will come down

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back.

The dental infection could have increased your blood sugars. It will come down once infection settle. Mean while you increase the dose of metformin to 1000 mg twice daily, if you don't have gastritis.
