What Causes Severe Pain In Right-sided Lower Back?

Question: Over past week very sharp pain on right side of lower back. Movement is painful especially getting up from seated positionup like getting out of car.

I read your question and i understand your concern. Painful back with restricted movements at age of 71 with no prior history of trauma is likely a musculoskeletal spasm and age related articular degeneration. Take some advil, some skelaxin, get some massage, rest for a while and avoid lifting heavy weights or long drives. See if it helps. Other wise you will need some work up like radiographs and MR scans to rule out any nerve pinching or compressive neuropathy .
