What Causes Severe Jaw Pain, Blurred Vision And Hand Tremors While On Prednisone, Lyrica And Tegretol?
Question: Thank you Dr. Spaho, I have Tn and have been in pain since last April.
I am on Tegretol 200 mg 4 times a day,
Lyrica 200 mg 3 times a day and Prednisone 200 mg 1once a day. I also recently had Iv's of prednisone 1hr sessions for 3 day's. and I still have sever jaw pain. I can't eat or talk. The screaming pain is gone for now. but I still have the other. Since I have been these meds I can't see with my glasses or with out them very well. I drop things all the time, and my hands jerk. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX with Trigeminal Neuralgia .

Glad to hear that you have been feeling better. Doses of Tegretol and Lyrica are maximal ones that can be used, still within normal ranges, so, if you feel sufficiently better, you can continue with this treatment, but if there is worsening of symptoms, there should be no increase in dosage.
Prednisone 200 mg/day is a high dose, maximal dosage is 80 mg/day.
I still think you could do better if you will undergo trigeminal injection, in this way you can decrease significantly drugs, since you are feeling side effects too.
In my opinion, you should discus about lowering the dose of prednisone and the possibility of trigeminal ganglion injection.
