What Causes Recurring Pain In The Wrist And Finger Joints?

default
Posted on Wed, 6 Mar 2019
Question: I started to have pain in my wrist about a week ago. I woke with it. I thought I had sprained my wrist in my sleep. I wore my sister’s carpal tunnel brace and used my essential oils on it and it went away in three days. I woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday. My hand was completely stiff and it hurt to move my fingers. Now it seems to be just the knuckle over my index finger where it. articulates with my hand-

Tonight the same knucle on my left hand hurts. My bones. And elbows are starting to hurt, too.

Brief Answer:
Can be polyarthralgia.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Repeated joint pains can be due to multiple causes at this age the commonest being polyarthralgia. Other causes can be rheumatoid arthritis, gout, inflammatory diseases like SLE, bursitis, fibromyalgia, etc. For proper diagnosis, some of the blood tests are advisable like-
1. Serum calcium levels.
2. Serum Uric acid levels.
3. RA factor
4. ESR and CRP
5. Serum Creatinine
6. X-ray of affected joints.
You need a thorough clinical examination followed by investigations under the guidance of an orthopedician.
Till then for symptomatic relief, you can take over the counter analgesics, do hot fomentation and apply local analgesic gel on the affected areas.

I hope this answers your query.

Wishing you good health.
