What Causes Radical Fluctuations In Vision Leading To Extreme Nearsightedness?

Question: I wrote in a few weeks ago about a sudden improvement in my nearsightedness. Two weeks later my vision had deteriorated significantly and I was more nearsighted than I had been. I have seen an ophthalmologist and he found nothing abnormal except some changes in blood vessels due to high blood pressure and mild cataracts not bad enough for surgery. He said my fluctuating blood pressure from very high to very low could account for my vision changes. I returned to the optometrist to get a new prescription for glasses. She said I was much more nearsighted than I had been a month previously when she had checked my vision. She did not think my blood pressure would have that much impact on my vision. She was very puzzled by such a significant change in my vision in so short a time. I am at a loss to understand what is wrong with my eyes that I could recover my vision from nearsightedness to losing the improvement and having further deterioration. Both eyes were affected. Doctors have ruled out diabetes as a cause because my blood sugar has run consistently in the normal range during this time. I have an autonomic disorder "Pots" and hyperadrenergic symptoms. I was told by my primary care doctor dysautonmia could affect vision but the doctor at HealthcareMagic said it would not affect vision. I also previously had astigmatism but the optometrist said today she found little if any astigmatism now. What is going on? Could the brain be involved in my vision changes? Should I see another ophthalmologist? Please help me understand this.

Brief Answer:
it is neutralization of presbyopi with myopia which changes with body growth

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Myopia with growth power changes. It compensate with near sight defect. Since presbyopia is plus defect in myopic is neutralized. When body growth decreases the myopia is also stabilized. It is nothing but neutralization with myopia. In your case each year refraction to be done and myopia is to be corrected. As per result accordingly presbyopic correction is to be done. Then it will be stabilized only monitoring is required. Myopia is not related to diabetes nor it is auto immune disorder. Correct assessment should be done. If astigmatism is present it can be detected by refraction and it can be corrected. You can consult an eye doctor for detail examination of eye. Need not be worried, this is a normal phenomenon. In myopic brain is not involved.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I'm not sure I understand neutralization of presbyopia with myopia due to body growth. Are you saying that by body growth vision changes? Would I not have had to grow in order for this change in vision? I have not grown during the past month. Are you talking about aging? As I got older myopia decreased because of presbyopia? If nearsightedness declined because of presbyopia, how did it increase again in a matter of days? I'm sorry but I tried looking this process up and I could not find any information about this. I'm just not understanding your explanation. Can you give me more detail? I apologize that I'm not understanding.

Brief Answer:
As explained below.

Detailed Answer:
It is simple plus power is neutralized by the minus. Growth in the body is continuous. It keeps on changing. This process goes on until the growth process slows down and change of power is also settles. That is why in myopia repeated refraction is required to change the power accordingly. You have to monitor the change of power for myopia. This process settles down in due course of time. You need not apologize since you have to understand about myopia and presbyopia. The problems keep on changing depending on body factor-like growth. Both required repeated refraction so change the power according to your need. Discus with an eye doctor for proper clarification and properly explained and resubmitted.

This should be enough for the patient to understand. nothing more can be done. if the patient still in confusion then he is free to take second opinion.

Hope I have answered your query.
