What Causes Pulling Sensation In The Left Shoulder?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: I sometimes have a little pull feeling in the middle my left shoulder at the front - across from my collarbone.
It lasts about 4 seconds each time it happens. Feels slightly sharp. I am a little worried about it and that it could be my heart.
About a year ago i had a lung xray that found my heart to be of normal size, about 3 years ago i had a basic ecg at gp clinic and my heart rate was faster that normal
But the gp said to try and loose weight.Could this be a heart problem?
My blood pressure is 118/76 and pulse between 75-90 bpm.

Brief Answer:
Pain from possible pinched nerve

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

How you are describing the pain and the place where it is localized, I'm pretty sure that it is not a pain originating from the heart. A pain from the heart its dull, tight feeling, you can not point the finger at it because its in a large area around the heart, and lasts.
Also, your age, your pulse and blood pressure values - tell me that your risk of heart problems its high.

That risk would be higher if you have diabetes, dislipidemia or if you smoke. So make sure to keep those under control in case you have any.

I think your shoulder pain its due to a pinched nerve. So may asvises are to keep a regular posture, do exercises for your back, take a painkiller for 2 weeks regularely so the inflamation would go away, and then after as needed (but if pain lasts for 4 seconds you won't need it).

Hope this is helpful.
