Hello

Thank You for contacting HCM. My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. Papillary carcinoma of breast usually accounts for 1-2% of whole breast tumors and usually occurs in post menopausal patients. It mostly arise in the retro-areolar/sub-areolar region of the breast. Imaging modalities that can help in diagnosing this carcinoma includes mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI & biopsy. Overall prognosis is better. Treatment plan is usually based on the features of the tumor (type of cells, tumor grade, hormone receptor status, and HER2 status) and the stage of the disease (tumor size and node status). All the results are gathered and the treatment plan is discussed with patient. Treatment options include:

1. Local therapy which is aimed at preventing the cancer from coming back in the breast which includes surgery (lumpectomy or mastectomy), and may include radiation.

2. Systemic therapy is used to prevent the disease from coming back or spreading to another part of the body.

Changes anywhere else in the body arises if tumor has distant metastases. If it does not occur then no systemic symptoms appear other than the symptoms of treatment medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Wishing you good health !!
