What Causes Pain Under Right Rib Cage?

default
Posted on Sat, 28 Nov 2015
Question: on Friday I bent over to pick something up, but as I bent over a hard tool pouch on my belt dug sharply into my ribs on the right side. This hurt at the time and actually took my breathe away when it happened but subsided more or less upon standing again. The pain lingered for a few minutes afterwards but not so bad, to the point I forgot about it. The next day I went to lay on the floor to play with my child and as I laid on my right side propped up by my right elbow, I head a POP in my ribs and immense pain where I hurt from the day before. This time the pain was considerable longer lasting and every breath, or movement it was a sharp jabbing pain. I still feel pain but it has subsided considerably. I am fairly certain it is not broken/fractured (I have broken a rib in the past and although the initial pain was similar this pain was not like that). Would this most likely be a Slipped rib? Thanks

Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

According to the information provided by you ,in my opinion this DOES NOT seem to be a gractured or even a slipped rib.

It was just a trauma to your soft tissue or flesh and it seems to be getting healed up.

In such situations there is a traume to musclds around ribs which doesnt pain much at thay moment but over the time inflammation developes so area gets tender and it may pain more afterwards but then it gets better with time. This is the exact sequence of events that has been happening in your case.

You are improving so there is nothing to bw worried about. You have to take care of a few things though.

1) Protect the are from further pressure hit or injury.
2) Warm compresses will help.
3) Rub any pain killer gel over it brufen and voltral gel help much.

This will get better with time there seems to be nothing to worry about.

I hope this answered your question, a
if you have more please feel free to ask.

Regrads.
