What Causes Intermittent Shortness Of Breath?
Question: When I bend over and come up I'm short of breath. Never running, buy standing up. In the morning just after waking up it seems I have to think about breathing.

Thanks for posting the query on HCM. After going through your query, I would like to comment the following:
1. You currently have exertional shortness of breath.
2. Considering that you are a known hypertensive on medications, your cardiac status needs to be evaluated to rule out cardiac cause of breathlessness apart from known respiratory causes.
3. Investigations that will be required are chest xray, 2 d echo, cardiac stress test and pulmonary function test.
4. Do you have swelling on your legs? have you ever smoked in the past?
5. Based on the investigations above, further management will be required.
6. You thus need to be evaluated by your doctor (Cardiologist / Pulmonologist
) in detail as per the investigations outlined above which may be required based on your clinical profile.

I have never smoked. Just had a stress test & everything was fine. The cardiegolst
thinks it is my diafram causing the shortness of breath part. Perhaps the side
effects os the medicine
Never smoked, just had a stresstrst & doctor said it was good. he listened to my heart & lungs and said it was fine. no swelling in legs
I had a complete stress test blood tests dr. listened to heart & lungs and said every thin sounds great. Just don" understand why I am aware of my breathing.
