What Causes Increase In Body Temperature?

Question: If my body temp is always at 96 degrees, but it jumps to 99.6 degrees after an operation. doesn't this sound like an infection?

Fever often means an inflammation. After surgery, there is always an inflammatory reaction and justifies why there could be an increase in temperature. The increase temperature means there is an ongoing inflammatory reaction of which-surgery and infection can both explain this. For now, I choose to go with inflammatory reaction at this time.
