What Causes Hearing Loss In An Infant?

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2015
Question: I have a question on how to find out if a 3 month old is hearing impaired. At birth, one of the ears did not pass the test. However , at age 3 weeks he went to an Audiologist and passed with flying colors. I baby sit my grandson 3 days a week and sometimes I am wondering if he is hearing properly since he does not always react to sounds. Thank you. I did mention this to my son re; this and he said occasionally he
may notice this as well. Would you recommend another audiologist screening?

Brief Answer:
Yes better to do

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
If you and your grandson feel that he is not reacting consistently to sound plus the fact that at birth one of the ears didn't pass the test, it is better to get it done again.
There is no harm in doing audiology again.
You can be sure after that there is nothing wrong if he clears the test.
I do hope he passes the test very well.
Wishing your child good health
Regards
Dr Arun
