What Causes Foot Pain While Having Diabetes?

Question: I have been experiencing foot pain on the top of my foot between the second and third toe on top. I thought may tendinitis? It is warm to touch and I can hardly walk. It is light pink in color. though it feels like it goes thru my foot to the bottom. I am diabetic...there are no sores that I can see. Although my foot is super dry and callused with cracks.



Should I see my DR. ASAP?

If you are a known diabetic ,then these symptoms are suggestive of early cellulitis. It is definitely not tendinitis because in tendinitis the area is not warm to touch.

If the affected area is pink ,painful and warm to touch,then it indicates an underlying infection.

I suggest you to get your blood sugar levels checked,both fasting and post-prandial.
Consult your doctor to assess the extent of infection and start on anti-inflammatory and antibiotic tablets.

Apply ice to reduce the inflammation.
Do not apply anything warm.
Keep the leg elevated as far as possible.

Let me know the blood sugar levels once you get it checked.
