What Causes Dizziness And Sharp Pain In Foot Post An Injury?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Apr 2016
Question: my brother broke his foot this morning and we do not have enough money to go to the emergency room and all that happens is to prescribe us pain killers and saying it is broken. He feels some dizziness, and sharp pain/sting in his foot. He injured it because he went running with his foot swollen, after MMA training and the next day had training at school with a coach for football. He twisted the foot around 60 degrees and turned it back with his hands. My mom has provided all the necessary things he need like crutches, socks, gauze and foot wrapper and an ancle support, but we are not sure if we should take him still to the emergency room. Can something bad happen because he is dizzy? Is there anything else we need to know?

Hello and thank you for sending the question

Detailed Answer:
Thanks again for sending your question.

I would be willing to bet that some of the dizziness he is experiencing is related to the pain.

I do think that in light of the severity of his injury that a visit to the emergency department is indicated. While they may provide pain medication, they can also use technology including x-ray equipment to assess for possible fractures which may have occurred. If there has been a fracture which causes displacement of the bones in his foot then he may need to have a surgical intervention to stabilize the fracture and promote adequate healing.

In light of this consideration, I think it is in his best interest to go for an evaluation at the local emergency department. They should be able to work with you regarding payment. They also have very long payment plans where you can only give them a few dollars per month as long as you continue to pay on a monthly basis.

I am sorry that you have to worry about the cost of obtaining adequate medical care. In his case I think it would be absolutely beneficial to obtain an examination as soon as possible.

Thank you again for sending your question.

Sincerely,
