What Causes Burning Sensation In The Spine When Having History Of Tailbone Injury?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Oct 2016
Question: May 1st of this year I injured my tailbone. I have the feeling of someone running a hot flaming rod up inside my spine and for the last 4 weeks I have had constant numbing in both of my legs all day long.On my left leg it feels like I have ice water running down my leg all day long. two weeks ago I had a Steroid injection by my tailbone but it hasn't helped. What can I do now to help this heal?
I suffer from A-typicaI systemic Lupus ( a rare type of Lupus)plus Sjogrens Syndrome, fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis.
When they did the MRI on my lower spine they found that I had 2 ruptured discs, bone spar on the nerve ending by the spinal canal, one bone spar pushing in the spinal canal. I have narrowing on the spinal canal and the cord. So what or all are causing my tailbone and legs to hurt?

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

How was your day?

Hope this message finds you in good health.

I have gone through your query in detail and understand your concern.

it seems that the present symptoms that you have been experiencing are not just due to an injured tail bone. The ruptured lumbar discsthat are compressing the leg nerves is causing the symptoms. local steroid injections in tail bone ont help.

the compressed nerves need to be de-compressed. this can be done either by spine surgery or conservative treatments like lumbar traction, hot fomentation and using lumbosacral belt with frame.

analgesics,calcium , vitamin D tablets should help.

You should eventually get back to normal in coming few days.Nothing to worry about.

I hope your question has been answered.

Take care,God bless.
