What Causes Bowel Urgency After Undergoing Anal Wart Surgery?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Sep 2018
Question: I am having sudden and violent urges to have a bowel movement. There can be loose stools and harder stools. I have recently (3 weeks ago) had surgery to remove anal warts although the symptoms started before the operation. The symptoms have been worse since the operation. I took a trip to the Philippines in December and did get Montezuma's revenge while I was there. I did go to a doctor and they took a fecal sample and found no parasites, no infection, but a fair amount of mucus in my sample. I used to have one or two bowel movements in the morning but now have 3 or 4 and sometimes in the afternoon as well. The blood draw in the Philippines did show a lower than normal white blood cell count.

Brief Answer:
symptomatically its enteritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Most likely you are suffering from amebiasis.
Its not always necessary that the stool test shows amoeba or other parasites. Your symptoms are suggestive of amebiasis in which patient has mucus in stools and urge to defecate many times a day. These protozoans cause inflammation in the intestines, hence spasmodic contraction increases causing a severe urge to defecate. As intestines are inflamed, water can't be absorbed properly hence stools are unformed.

Suggestion:

Symptomatically you should get a course of antibiotic and anti amoebic for 5 days this would irradiate amoeba or other bacterias and parasites from the intestine.

Preferably get a prescription for Norfloxacin twice a day with Secnidazole twice for 5 days.

Along with it take an anti-inflammatory like Tylenol and an antispasmodic like Dicyclomine thrice a day.
An over the counter probiotic should also be taken. Take lightly boiled food for 5 days. Avoid meat and heavy proteins. You would be fine in 5 days.
