Posted on Tue, 3 May 2016
Question: Since four months I am taking Oleanz Plus (Olee Plus) tab together with Feliz S Plus tabs. Now I have blurry vision and have difficulty to focus on a 10 Meter distance. I think it is the side effect of Oleanz Plus. So, I would like to stop it or to look for substitute. How can I stop it ? Kindly reply please.

Brief Answer:
Oleanz plus should be stopped.

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

I can understand your concern. Oleanz Plus is a fixed dose combination of Olanzapine 5 mg and Fluoxetine 20 mg. Feliz S plus consists of 10 mg Escitalopram and Clonazepam. If we consider psychopharmacology of drugs then both Fluoxetine and Escitalopram are SSRI drugs and of same group. Increased serotonergic neurotransmission is the probable reason for blurred vision in your case. In my opinion either of these drugs should be stopped. You can think of reducing the Oleanz Plus doses. This would solve the problem. In place of Oleanz Plus you can start taking plain Oleanz 5 mg. This would not cause much effects on your response and you will feel better. Starting plain Oleanz would not cause withdrawal symptoms. Please take the drugs as per prescribed doses only.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.

Sir,
Instead of the prescribed 0.5 tablet per night, can I take 0.5 tablet on every alternate nights ? Can it save from vision problem as well as from any withdrawal syndrome ? Is there any safe substitute for Oleanz Plus ?
Thank you for your fast response.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Take the drug regularly for at least 2 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for asking a follow up

I have mentioned about 5 mg Olanzapine and not about 0.5 mg dose of any drug. In my opinion take Olanzapine 5 mg per day for at least 2 weeks and then you can reduce the doses further to 2.5 mg per day if you want to get rid of this drug completely. Plain Olanzapine is better option for you considering your prescription instead of Oleanz Plus.

Thanks.
