Question: I have a white patch on my throat- it is a little sore but no other symptoms. Could it be strep throat or just a sore throat?

Brief Answer:
Seems strep throat;however, oral swab testing can determine it....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through the photo you provided and noted the white patch on your throat. Sincerely, it seems more a yellow patch to me from the photo than a white patch.

I was going through the tonsils, and I noted they are really inflamed and have white patches too (refer to the one on your left side).

As you are having only a sore throat, that seems a strep throat to me. However, you can take a simple home testing to exclude/determine strep throat.

If I was your caring doctor, after having the test result, I'd prescribe:
- oral antibiotics
- oral antiseptics
- antiinflammatories

For the moment, I advise to take ibuprofen (as anti-inflammatory medication), keep good oral hygiene, gargle with warm water and salt can help together with oral anti-septic spray.

Hope it was of help!
