What Are The Symptoms Of Acid Reflex?
Question: hello, I do not suffer from a soar throat, or cough (expect in the morning) but the round ball below my XXXXXXX apple (I think it's my voice box) feels weird/ kind of hurts to touch. first, should I feel some sort of large hard/bone type ball below my XXXXXXX apple, second could this be a sign of acid reflex? I am nervous

Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having swelling below the XXXXXXX apple.
A per your details, it appears to be perichondritis or thyroid gland swelling.
Perichondritis (inflammation or injury to voice box cartilages) shows tenderness on touch, warmth with difficulty in swallowing, where as thyroid gland swelling (hypo/hyperthyoidism) shows swelling in front of neck.
As such, acid reflux, does not cause any external swelling.
I suggest you to do thyroid profile (T3,T4,TSH) with laryngoscopy, if necessary ultrasound neck for the exact diagnosis. Treatment can be started as per the findings.

I don't think I have any swelling.. I don't recall in my entire life ever feeling this area of my neck.. so my main concern is if this object should be here or not (it feels slightly round at the top then kind of turns into a tube) is this how this area should feel? from my own research I thought it was just tender due to mucus build up from acid reflex.. nothing appears to be swollen.. so the question really is should this object be in my neck in the first place?
