Brief Answer:
It could be due to Left sided kidney stone or Colitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Left sided Ureter travels from kidney to the Urinary bladder. Any stone in the Ureter will cause pain in that area. But, swelling is not seen.

Similarly infection/inflammation/growth in the Colon on left side can also cause pain and swelling. In this condition, patient may present with Loose stool/bleeding per Rectum etc. If you have any of these symptoms, let me know.

Some swellings like Lipoma, Sebaceous cyst etc will be arising from the Abdominal wall layers(parietal swellings).

Ultrasound abdomen will exclude Ureteric stone and abdominal wall swellings. colonic pathology can be diagnosed with Colonoscopy. So if the pain is persisting, I will suggest to visit a doctor who can order these tests.

Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
